The Foundation of Educational Values in Malaysia from Islamic Perspective

Educational values are the important aspect that should be considered not only by scholars but also parents and care takers in educational setting. No matter how brilliant students are, they should understand and internalize the concept of value and practice it in their daily life. In related to this issue, the article will discuss on the foundation of educational values from Islamic perspective. The discussion will begin with the concept of values where definition and etymological aspect of it is explained. Four fundamental values (ummahat al-akhlaq) i.e wisdom, courage, temperament, and justice will be discussed. With regards to the teaching of moral values in Malaysia, the article will discuss on the application of these values in educational setting. The discussion in this article is derived from scholarly and authentic materials as well as my experience in educational realm in Malaysia.
