This essay introduces the role of theater to challenge assumptions concerning cultural experience and expression in our global world. Using humor and playfulness to address stereotypes while concurrently offering insight, this essay with accompanying play challenges western stereotypes of the “veil” and welcomes its audience to laugh together, letting go of assumptions and ethnocentrism, to achieve a compassionate cross-cultural identity.
